Title: George Edmund - St. Davids 1804
Post by: Smudge1404 on Wednesday 03 August 22 22:02 BST (UK)
Hi,

I'm new to this, but looking for information on my great great great Grandfather, George Edmund, born 1804 & married 1831 in St.Davids, Pembrokeshire.

I'm trying to trace back, who his parents were etc.

Any advice & help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

Welcome to Rootschat

Can’t help with his parentage but a tree on Ancestry has incorrectly shown his wife’s parents as George’s parents.  Wife was Dorothy Martin & her mother Margaretta is living with them in 1861

Thank you, yes I saw that his Mother in law had been incorrectly shown as his Mother too - confused me at first! appreciate the reply

Welcome to rootschat

Just to add, George signed the register when he married in 1831, one of the witnesses was a William Edmund

Thank you, yes I saw that ... I need to do some more research as not sure whether his Father or not. I've since been told there are a number of Edmund graves in the Cathedral too

The grave in St.Davids Cathedral is William Edmund I understand too, so I have hopefully some more lines of enquiry to look into re: whether dates fit etc.

Hi Rosie,
Would you be able to point me in the direction of where the baptism document is on FindMyPast please. I searched but couldn't see. Do I need to be a subscription member?
Thanks

hi Smudge
Coming late to this board, but there are five Edmunds buried in the cathedral at St Davids - if you want details, let me know?

Thanks again, that's really good of you.
I did try and look for graves in the Cathedral & other cemetery in St.Davids a year or so ago, but failed to find any. I also asked within the Cathedral library but unfortunately they couldn't help.
A long shot, but would you have any ideas how I'd go about looking for?
