Hi,
Another couple hiding in the census...
Trying to find George Watson b. Abt 1813 Sunderland and wife in 1841. He married Jane Richardson of Bishop Auckland at Holy Trinity Sunderland in 1837. One witness is her father William Richardson. They do not seem to have had any children. Occupation of George in later census is joiner/furniture broker.
1851 George home alone in Bishop Wearmouth, HO107/2396/458/10.Jane b.1812, is visiting mother Dorothy Richardson in BP Auckland. Jane described as ag labs wife, but I believe this is incorrect. Next door is Jane's sister Elizabeth and more visiting family, including a neice from Scotland, daughter of Mary Elliott nee Richardson.
1861 RG9 /3771/32/58 both in BP Wearmouth.
1871 RG10/5004/8/10
1881 still in BP Wearmouth RG11/4993/23/40.Jane dies in April
1891 lodging in Stanhope retired joiner, widower RG 12/4084/47/24. As yet to work out why he moved to Stanhope, not found any link to Bolton family he is lodging with. Did the Watson's originate there? There's a Watson next door! There are a couple of George Watson's born around 1813 in Sunderland, so I am not sure which one is mine.
Dies before next census, 2 possibles on freebmd :1893 Sunderland or Auckland 1892.
Thanks.

Hello
There is a George Watson buried in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery, Sunderland in January 1893. I would have looked it up for you but am unable to visit the Local History Library at this moment.
If you give them a call I am sure they would look it up for you to confirm if it is the George you are looking for (01915618439) or drop them an email (local.historylibrary@sunderland.gov.uk)
The details are: Reel 31. Folio 207. Entry no. 4123. January 1893.
I think they close at 5 today and open tomorrow till lunchtime.

Thanks JenB. As this George is a ship owner I doubt he's the one I am looking for. :'(

There's a George Watson and wife Sarah enjoying some hydrotherapy at Ilkley in 1891 census. He is 78 , born Sunderland and living on own means. Perhaps this is the George , ship owner, buried in Sunderland 1893.
On the other hand, thanks to the link JenB sent, I found my George's wife Jane's burial record in 1881, she's described as wife of George Watson gentleman. Not a bad promotion for a retired joiner.
Shall check probates to see if either George turns up.

Ship owner George left over £40000 probate to John Hunter Watson ship owner amongst others. I have now found him in earlier census at the address given at burial 1893 so have now definitely ruled him out.
Perhaps the Auckland death will be mine. Still not found in 1841.

my George's wife Jane's burial record in 1881, she's described as wife of George Watson gentleman.
Here's a George Watson 'gentleman' buried at Bishopwearmouth in 1900. Same Grave number as Jane: 3C 719

It was somewhere in Bedlington Parish as far as I can see, but can't yet locate it in 1901 census.
The village is now known as Nedderton https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=778341.msg6322439#msg6322439

Found Nedderton Hall in 1901, Rg13/4833 there's a John Greene , merchant, living there, but no separate mention of Gardener's Lodge.
