Title: Translation Request - German
Post by: genealogygirlais on Tuesday 02 August 22 01:14 BST (UK)

I was sent an old album from a relative.  This photo had detached at some point from its glued down spot in the book and has a note written in German.  My mom (who speaks/writes some German) wasn’t able to translate it.
Hoping someone can assist!

Thank you.

Pity about the glue stains. I tried my best to read and/or guess the text. Hopefully others can add some more.

translation

Michel, Josephine and the children are sending you a thousand wishes from ... (Do you know which city it might be? It seems to start with Falk).
I send you also a picture of us where dad ... (possibly something like 'with dad in front of our house').
I apologize you didn't hear of us in a long time, but we lost the address. Mom sent it to us.
We had a little baby girl 9 months ago, but ...
Our kind regards and kisses, Michel, Josephine and the children.

Can you read (on the original picture) what's on the shield in front? It becomes blurry when magnified on the scan.

I'm going to see if I can gently remove some more of the black from the back of the photo.  I looked at the plaque on the front with a magnifying but it's still quite blurry. I'll see if I can scan at a higher resolution.  I'm gathering it's the photographer's information?

Thank you for the translations!

I tried to do a close up.  Not sure how much better it is.

If it's the family I think it is, it could be Michael Peiser born 1875 in Krefeld, Germany in the middle (their father?).  I haven't found much on him.  I'm descended from his older brother Peter Carl Peiser born 1865 and his wife Elisabeth Krucken.

Side by side of the two I suspect are brothers.

The magnification shows Andenken an Creutzwold (or Creutzwald). (translated: souvenir of)
This refers to the city of Creutzwald in eastern France, and lies adjacent to Falck, the missing town in the text at the back of your picture.

So after a google search I came across a social media page for the town of Creutzwald.  Photos mostly of it and the families that lived there.  I posted the photo asking if anyone recognized it and low and behold a whole branch of new cousins!  Thank you so much for your help and I have lots more names/dates to add to my tree!

It's so amazing.  just noticed looking at the full original photo - i think the little girl on the right side is holding a baby.  I wonder if that's the baby they talk about in the note!  I found a birth record in 1938 for a little girl - for Michael and Josephine.
