I'm looking for a potential marriage between Benjamin Jacobs and his wife Catherine in Merton and a possible baptism for him. I have found his will which shows he died in Merton in 1732. It mentions his eldest son, James but I haven't found a baptism record for him. I have baptism records of the following children:
Benjamin 1693
Catherine, 1696
John 1699
Jane 1704
Any ideas?

There is a Jane Jacobs died 1735 she is a widow also of Merton, her will mentions quite a few members of the Jacobs family including James.
She is a god parent to Benjamin son of James.
Have you worked out where she fits in?
Often a wife might go home for the birth of her first child so you might want to go a little further afield in search of James son of Benjamin and Catherine, he may have been baptized in her home parish.

I'm going the long way round but sometimes it works.
Will of James Jacob (no S) 1720 listed as Jacobi Jacob on ancestry of Mertin (sp) Surrey
Bequests to John Dan Cammell? and his children Charles, William, Hannah and Katherine.
His late wife's sister Alice Conyers and her son Edward.
The bulk of his estate goes to his dear brother Benjamin Jacob senior of Mertin Surrey
--------------------
So they are probably sons of John Jacobs died 1678 of Merton Surrey who has children Margaret wife of John Fo?, Catherine, James, Thomas and Benjamin.

thank you- I'll take a look- no, I haven't found out her connection so far. There was a daughter called Jane but this must be a different one as she is a widow.
