Can anyone decipher the occupation of the father of the groom here?
The name of said individual is Alexander Schomberg, he is something-of-the-something!
Thanks in advance!

Alexander Wilmot Schomberg – Vice Admiral
See here …

Ah so it says Wilmot! And what I thought is "of the" is the "ot" of Wilmot followed by Vice Admiral. Got it now :) That vicar/curate should have been a doctor!

Alexander Wilmot SCHOMBERG marries into one of my lines way back. He was married twice.
Would be interested in knowing who you have as the groom's mother, first wife or second wife.

A lengthy obit. appeared in the West Kent Guardian, 26 Jan 1850 for Vice Admiral Alexander Wilmot Schomberg. It included -
"... The Vice Admiral married first Catherine Anna,, only surviving daughter of Stepney Rawson Stepney, of Castle Durrow, King's County, Ireland; and secondly, 1 October 1804, Anne, youngest daughter of the late Rear Admiral Rich. Smith of Poulton-Cum-Seccombe in Cheshire. By his first marriage he had one son, Herbert"

The Scots Magazine, 1 Oct 1804
At Wallazy (sic) in Cheshire, Captain A W Schomberg, second son of the late Sir Alexander Schomberg to Miss Ann Smith, daughter of Rear-Admiral Smith.
Intrigued how this publication able to report same day marriage in Cheshire?

Catharine Anna Schomburg was buried 2 Jan 1804, Clewer, Berkshire, age 39

The publication date is wrong. It's the issue "for October" and includes various births, marriages and deaths from April/May up to mid-October.

Thanks.
I'd confirmed the marriage date as 1 Oct. A separate publication. 9 Oct had the date as " ... yesterday sen'night" - a term I really enjoy seeing.

FindMyPast has the 1804 marriage register (top left):

I think that is the first time I've seen a marriage record headed up "Banns of Marriage". They were married by licence.
