Looking for help on parents or birthdates of Charles McArthur and Mary Campbell.
Charles and Mary were married in Kilcalmonell and Kilberry, Argyll in 1808; they both resided in Dunmore. I have their 8 kids (my paternal line is from James (1819)).
However, I cannot figure out how to get Charles or Mary's birth info. There are 8 Mary's listed in Kilcalmonell with birthdates 1770-1796 (I figured earliest Mary could be for marriage was 12). There is only 1 Charles in Kilcalmonell during this same time period - but he was born 1807 - not the one I am looking for. If I increase the search to all of Argyllshire, there are 11 matches [from FamilySearch searches].
Ancestry trees have Charles parents as Duncan and Elfie McLean; but there are no records for this - it appears to be just conjecture. Same with Mary - shows Alex Campbell and Janet Ross, but no source info - I think just Ancestral Family Trees that have been copied from one to another.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Bernie.

When did they die? If they died in Scotland from 1855 onwards - their parents names should be on their respective death certs

The 1851 has a Charles McArthur b 1761 Kilchomen
Another b 1777 Kilchomen - has a 35yr old daughter Janet - he's indexed as Charls

I am not sure from your post that any of the records you mention were from https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
This is the only site for original Scottish records, it is free to search small fee to view.

ALEXANDER 1813

Tyree (Birth records 1766 – 1854)
MARGARET 1830
No death records on any areas above until Statutory Registration 1855.
Given the number of children they had I would expect to see some sort of naming pattern to their parents, the one you mention, below, does not reflect that. They had two boys named John, so I guess that name was important to them. I would not have thought there would be a marriage for a child the age of 12 to marry in Scotland, even though it was possible it was not common practice.
MCARTHUR CHARLES DUNCAN MCARTHUR/EFFIE MCLELLAN 26/04/1783 South Knapdale
Scottish Naming Pattern.
First son was named after his father's father
Second son was named after his mother's father
Third son was named after his father
First daughter was named for her mother's mother
Second daughter was named for her father's mother
Third daughter was named after her mother
Other daughters were named after other family members
Don't be misled into thinking that any of this is a hard and fast rule.

Son, Alexander died in Kilmeny, Islay, in 1885. A Charles McArthur, died Kilchoman, Islay, age 92 in 1857. MMN McLean.
Mary died age 97 (not clear on image), in Kilmeny, 1870, MMN McKinnon. Her death lists her parents as James Campbell & Mary McKinnon & husband as Charles MacArthur, Ploughman.
She was with her son Alexander & his family on the 1861 Kilmeny census (age given as 76).
There was also a Jane (Jean) McArthur, 39 at the same address. Jane's age given as 58 on 1871 census & 32 on 1851.
Jane died in Kilmeny, 1895, (age given as 84), MMN Campbell.
On the 1851 census, Mary was a widow of a labourer & a pauper.

1851 census gives Mary's birthplace as Clachan, Argyll. Unable to locate her on 1841 census. Charles must have died between 1826 & 1851 but unable to locate a death in Argyll.
