Title: 1871 Census Address
Post by: Sophie_Glen on Saturday 23 July 22 00:02 BST (UK)
Hello,

I am struggling to decipher the address for the Feenan(e) Family listed on the 1871 Census. The location is in Consett, Co. Durham.

I'm attaching the census page in question. Any help would be much appreciated!

Sophie

No image posted.  Can you give us the census reference (piece, page, folio) ?

I'm going to hazard a good guess, that it  is:

Piece 4958 / Folio 78, Page 41
Daniel Feenane and family

:-)
Cheers

Stamford Lane?

But if you look at page 1 the enumerators route it looks more like Stanifordam  :-\

Stamfordham is a place apparently, west of Newcastle.

It must be Stanefordham (modern spelling)

It's Staniford Dam on this old map.

On the census it is preceded by Consett Park which you can see to the south-west.

Ah, apologies for not attaching the image! Thank you Ambly for pointing everyone in the right direction.

Thank you all so much for your help!! I was tearing my hair out trying to read the text. Staniford Dam looks correct. Looking forward to being able to do more research now this door is open.
