Hello
Is it possible to lookup William Jessop of Pentrich for his tithe apportionments in 1835
Thanks in advance
Regards
Peter

I notice no-one has responded, Peter. Have you thought to ask this question in 'Derbyshire Lookups' instead?

It is possible to look them up on TheGenealogist, which has the tithe maps online. A search for William Jessop in Derbyshire brings up 40 hits in Pentrich, Ripley and Belper.
https://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/
Search under "Landowner and occupier" rather than "Tithe and landowner"

Hello
Thanks to Annbee and Shaun
I’ll post on Derbyshire page
Yes I know the info is available on The Geneologist site but I don’t have access nor the money to become a member for just one search
I was hoping to discover who owned the land my house is built on and when
Regards
Peter

First you'd have to find the right plot on the tithe map then look up the plot number to find the owner and tenant.

Hello
I’ve been made aware our house is built on plot number 132
Thanks
Peter

132 was "Swinnington": pasture land owned by the Duke of Devonshire and occupied by James Moore (July 1843). James Moore had a house on 130.

132 on the 1843 Tithe map would be 186 on this OS map: https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=18&lat=53.06593&lon=-1.42100&layers=168&right=ESRIWorld

Shaun - Is there a standard way to translate tithe plot numbers to the later maps, as shown in the last post, or does it vary from place to place? It would be so useful.

Probably not, but I really have no idea!
