On 16 July 1883 at the Manchester Assises, Lancashire, England William Henry Hartley was sentenced to 10 years for Rape.

Manchester Courier 21 July 1883 William Henry Hartley age 24 labourer was convicted of felonious assault on Jane Calvert aged 18 at Colne on 2 May.

The prison record states that the offence took place in Colne and WWH was 24 yrs in 1883 as already stated by others here.
