Hello, looking for any information on Peggy Hardy Batey. On her marriage certificate she married Harold Percy Tweddle. 19/05/1926 at the Reg Office in Darlington. Her age was 22, her father William Batey, Sawmill Enging Driver of Thorntree House, Middleton St George.
Have managed to follow the Tweddle side of the family but not the Batey. Cannot find them on the Census, not on BMD tried GRO, tried Familysearch all a blank.
Thank you.

There's a Peggie Hardy Batey in the 1921 census in Hexham aged 18. Others include Mary Eliza and Blanche (probably not Bateys)

Just for the record, three family members are recorded in this transcription as being born in ‘Wall, Parish of Dent Jonkey’.
Looking at the original I think it says Wall, Parish of sent Jonley’, in other words, 'Wall, Parish of Saint John Lee’.

Gosh, you were all very quick with the information.
I also wonderd if she was adopted because couldnot find anything.
That looks a good shout for the 1911 Census info in Hexham and the marriage between William Baty and Margaret Jane Jackson.
So the 1921 Census of her in Hexham would fit, did it have any occupation for her by chance?
I suppose the only way would be to get the birth rcord for Peggy Hardy Huddlestone born the same year and see if it says adopted.
Thank you everyone, something to go on now.

Looks like formal adoption didn't come in until 1926 so nothing may show on birth cert?? :-\ http://www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk/search/righttosearch/lawbasics.htm

It's pay per view and I haven't paid to view it. However if I search in Acomb parish for anyone with the occupation 'maid', she is one of 5 names that come up.

I know never to believe a tree on Anc*. However there is a tree with Harold Percy Tweddle that appears to check out re his marriage to a Batey in 1926. However she has christian names of Margaret (Peggy?) Hudspith Tweddle born 1909 Haltwhistle. Tree is owed by a Tweddle.

Added, and as usual tree incorrect. She married a Thomas N Pattison in 1935 and died in 2005

Birth in 1909 for Margaret Hudspith Batey - mmn Hudspith
1905 marriage - James Batey/Elizabeth Hudspith

Ancestry trees strike again😡😡

Thanks for the info for Peggy's occupation.
I did go with the info on the Ancestry Tree and then realised it was not right.

In 1939 - as Percy Tweddle - he is shown as 'M' for married but no trace of Peggy.
However, IF her actual birthday was 13th July (1904) it looks like she could have left her husband and remarried as a single woman (Peggy Batey) to an Albert (Samuel) Freegard in 1931 Paddington. Although they appear to have had a number of children none are with them in 1939 when her birthdate given as 13/7/1903 - she's always Peggy on electoral rolls but her death is recorded in 1991 as 'Margaret' Freegard birthdate 13/7/1906!!
The eldest child (daughter) of Peggy and Albert was born in 1930 Marylebone (year before they married) and registered under both Tweddle and Freeguard which sort of clinches it for me.
So looking like the marriage to Freegard was a bigamous one in her single name! Naughty girl! No wonder I couldn't find a death for a Peggy Tweddle.
