I have a family of George Bishop b1871 in Thakeham Sussex. In 1895 in Armagh He married Mary Gillen b1876 in Armagh whilst he was in the British army. They had six children together in Ireland. Francis Henry 1895, Mary 1897, Josephine Elizabeth 1904, Vincent George 1906, Patrick Edward 1909 and John Joseph 1913. All born in Armagh. I have the 1901 and 1911 census. Is anybody able to tell me where this family ended up. George died 1941 and Mary 1934 but I can't remember where I got that info from or where they died.

You might have the censuses but it's a good idea to provide a link so that others can view it.
1911 census - George not present
House 5 in Chapel Lane (Armagh South Urban, Armagh)
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Armagh_South_Urban/Chapel_Lane/324678/
Probably obtained the death record information from GRONI Online-
D/1934/9/1002/43/340 Mary Bishop 19th September 1934 59 Female Armagh
D/1941/9/1002/47/133 George Bishop 23rd May 1941 69 Male Armagh
This might be the death of Mary Gillen (mother of Mary Bishop) although she was recorded as a spinster.

Thankyou for the response to my question. I had forgotten I had asked about this family before on rootschat. I haven't looked at this family for quite a while as I couldn't get any further than 1911, apart from a couple of deaths. I had been on the Irish web site a couple of days ago and couldn't find them but two of you have found them. It is good to see the original documents, thankyou. Maybe sometime in the future I will find where this family ended up.
Kind regards

Francis Henry Bishop, described as an engine man with a stated address of Armagh and father named as George Bishop, a labourer, married Annie Weir of Lisburn in St. Patrick's RC Church, Lisburn, on 20 October 1923, the record can be viewed on the GRONI website:
M/1923/E1/1845/26/193 Francis Bishop Weir 20th October 1923 Lisburn
M/1923/E1/1845/26/193 Annie Weir Bishop 20th October 1923 Lisburn
Annie Weir was recorded as a 19 year old actress, the daughter of Patrick Weir, a showman. A transcript of the church version of the marriage record identifies her parents as Patrick and Annie, with an address of Scotland.
An item in the 1955 issue of the Irish Weekly and Ulster Examiner about a daughter [name withheld by me] of Patrick and Elizabeth Bishop of Armagh (but more recently moved to London), mentions her uncle as Vincent Bishop, living at 63 Callan Street, Armagh. The same story also made it to the front page of the Belfast Telegraph of 4 November 1955, where there is also a photo of said daughter. The GRONI website has a registration in Armagh for a marriage that took place on 17 November 1933 between a Patrick Bishop and Elizabeth Copelton, just a maybe.

Here's the headstone for that one, it's in St. Patrick's RC Church cemetery, Armagh:

I've since seen the entry for this marriage in the Armagh parish marriage registers, it definitely looks like the correct Bishop family:
- Patrick Bishop, Callan Street, son of George Bishop, Callan Street;
- Elizabeth Copleton, Cathedral Close, daughter of John Copleton, Cathedral Close.
The Armagh parish death and burial registers show a 70 year old Josephine Bishop of Callan Street, Armagh, who died on 15 February 1977 and was buried in the New Cemetery, again a maybe.

Thank you so much for this extra information on this area of the Bishop family. This is much appreciated.
