Why are some of the records unavailable? What would be the cheapest, easiest way to view these?
Thanks

I think you are being a little too laconic for anyone to offer useful advice! Which particular Irish genealogy site did you have in mind and which records are you referring to that are not available? Is it a whole class of record or just some date ranges which are unavailable? I assume you are aware that an enormous amount Irish records which were held the Dublin Public Record Office were destroyed in 1922 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Dublin#Four_Courts) during the so-called Battle of Dublin.

Do you mean that there are transcriptions but no links to the records or no records for what you seek?

If you post which records you are looking for, perhaps someone can help.

Difficult to answer such a vague question. Have you read the FAQs on Irish Genealogy website?

Irish Genealogy is the government website for vital records- none of which were lost.

Since you have posted on the Co Down board, have you researched via the GRONI Online site-

Apologies for my vague questions.
There are 2 entries that I am interested in. Both relate to death of John Gibney in 1869.
Lurgan, 1869, quarter 3, returns 11, pg 440
Cookstown, quarter 1, returns 1, pg 429
I am reluctant to purchase certificates unless I am certain I have the correct person! ?
:)

It's explained in the FAQs (link posted earlier) that the early death registrations are in the process of being added.
Added- the John Gibney who did in Lurgan district was aged 68 as was the Cookstown one.
You can usually use GRONI's index to get exact date of death- Lurgan one died 13 July 1869. Cookstown one isn't coming up so look like might be mis-spelling of surname?

Thank you

Whilst everything else is going up in price the death images on GRONI will only cost you £2.50 to view each, cheaper than the €5 for an uncertified photocopy of an entry in the Register from GRO Ireland. You don't need to purchase certificates at £15 or €20. As the Cookstown one is not even indexed under J Gib (using begins with) hopefully the Lurgan one is the one you desire.
