Hi
I have been trying to upgrade from RootsMagic 7 to 8.
I have watched via YouTube the file video and am fairly confident I have made the file, 2 in fact, but neither opens my tree in the new software.
I have asked for help via RootsMagic support but it has all gone above my head unfortunately. ???
Can anyone advise please?
Thank you

maidmarrion does this help:
In the File tab of RM8 select Create a New RootsMagic File (the first option). This will open a new window where the second option is Import from RootsMagic 1-7 … This will then open a further option where you select the first option (RootsMagic Versions 1-7). This will create a new RM8 database file with the *.rmtree file extension. Your RM7 (*.rmgc) file will remain as it is, where it is. It is not overwritten and you can still open it in RM7 if you so wish.
Be advised that RM8 still has problems for some users. There are still some features in RM7 not yet implemented in RM8 so you would be wise to continue using RM7 as your production database and
use RM8 as a learning tool until you become familiar with the changes to the program.
You might find that there is more 'mouse clicking' than you are used to.

Thank you but I have already created 2 files but neither open.
I really am stumped!

Have you tried the Rootsmagic Facebook Group?
Some of the development team are on there.

I’ve just joined the fb group, it seems like the best way forward!
If it’s going to be such a trial, I may continue to use 7 anyway but I’d still like to take a look and see it up and running. I’m too tight to throw £20 away!!!
Thank you
