Title: St Winnow Burial 1791
Post by: KeithTruman on Wednesday 22 June 22 09:53 BST (UK)
Dear all,

I have found reference to a burial of a Benjamin Stephens at St Winnow on 5th January 1791 on FindMyPast. Does anyone have access to copies of the records to be able to provide me with an image of the actual record in the Registers or would I have to go to Truro for the record?

Cornwall-opc-database has the transcription.
But it's from Exeter BT's - Bishop's Transcripts.

No further info.

You could ask the opc if he has a copy and check the detail if he has.

Images of the BTs are available on FamilySearch.  Benjamin's burial is on this page:

To view it you would need to sign up for a free account, if you have not already got one.

Thank you so much Nell. How on earth did you find that when I couldn't find it through the normal search? Any tips please?

I checked to see what was available on FamilySearch using the catalogue search, but burials for that date were not included.  However, the BTs were, so I just looked through the film.  I have to admit I got lucky in guessing whereabouts it might be - I zoomed in on 1787 initially so it wasn't far to scroll.

Hi Nell,

As  Wizard at finding records, I can find a reference to a Baptism in St Winnow in 1833 which I would like to see the actual Parish Record for:

Baptism of Benjamin Stephens on 25th December 1833. Any ideas?

Regards

Keith

Unfortunately none of the films for St Winnow on FamilySearch  (PR or BT) has images for that date.

As far as I can see, Ancestry might have the images.  Perhaps you could access it via your local library?

Thanks Nell

I have Ancestry. The baptism of Benjamin is on Ancestry but sadly no image is available. There's a reference to an FHL Film Number:

FHL Film Number:   916982

But I dont know what that means?

Thank you for all your help

The reference to an FHL Film Number refers to data held by Family Search, aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormon church).

As KGarrad says it is the film number from the Family History Library of FamilySearch/LDS church

In this instance it is the Transcripts of the PR and BTs, so it would still not be as close to the original that I think you are after.
