Hi,
I’ve never been able to find birth details of my 2 x great grandmother Elizabeth Mitchell. She appears in the 1861 census after her marriage in 1848 in Marylebone, London, to my 2 x great grandfather George Elliott (born about 1815 in Ilchester, Somerset). In 1861 her place of birth is given as Merriott, Somerset, birth year 1822. Their marriage certificate gives her father as Alexander Mitchell, farmer.
Any help would be appreciated
Ann

I was just giving the reference in case it helped others as you had said they were in Marylebone

A witness at the Elliot/ Mitchell marriage was Robert Mitchell. He is in Islington in 1851 and is a policeman. His marriage earlier that year has father Alexander.
Police pension register gives his birth as 8 Jan 1824 in Merriott and parents Alexander and Ann Mitchell.

Sorry Rosie, I didn’t realise that it would be helpful to give the census reference.
Annette, thank you for those details. I did have them, but thought that the age difference meant they were two different Elizabeths. But I suppose she could be wanting to appear younger.
Comberton, thank you, yes I did find Robert after noticing he was a witness at the marriage.
