Hello, thank you again to those who helped me find out about my great-grandfather, John Morris b 1878. I was able to find him on the 1881 census, together with his parents and siblings. The census reference is RG11/5512, page 4. I can't see a folio number printed, but I can tell you it's the parish of Ruabon if that helps. I will try and post a transcription too.
What I'd like to find is:
-- where were the family, especially John, in 1891? He would have been 13 then, so most likely living at home but I don't know if his parents were still living ;I've tried looking at BMD records but they have such common names.
-- any more info about his parents John and Sarah - it's interesting that the census shows that their eldest was born in Liverpool. I think I have found John senior in the 1851 census (based on his place of birth), but Sarah is a mystery still.
Any help appreciated! It's the kind of thing that would be easy if they didn't have such common names!

Ooh, thank you - you guys are quick off the draw!
It's interesting to see that his grandfathers were a tanner and a shoemaker, as John himself worked for a shoe shop chain all his adult life, rising to manager and then "footwear inspector". I'd rather be a gardener like John Sr though!
