Hello I have a Catherine Keogh with husband John Carey, ive not found a marriage for this couple and I daresay I won't as it was around 1820-25 in Rathmines I believe. Ive trawled through a lot of records and have drawn a blank. I have found a few children to this couple one being a Patrick born April 1832 with one of the witnesses being a Thomas Keogh who im guessing may be a brother to Catherine. Can anybody point me in the right direction to try and find out more about this family. Thanks

James (Jacobus) baptised 1830

Godparents Patrick and Eleanora Lambert
Marriage Patrick Lambert and Eleanor Keogh - a witness is Thomas Keogh

If you have children born earlier than the ones mentioned here, you may be right that you won’t find them in Rathmines.

Marriages start about 1823/4

Thanks Heywood. So im guessing Eleanor would have been a sibling to Catherine and Thomas?
-
Perhaps. We don’t know but it is worth noting.
-
Well Eleanora fits. Thanks Heywood. I will continue my search
-
Heywood is it the NLI where I will be able to find the best records? I can find no children for Eleanor and Patrick as of yet
-
I try to find records through Catholic indexes which are available on Ancestry and Find my Past and then check with Catholic NLI.
Irish genealogy has lots of Dublin records too.
Here is another birth to your family where Patrick Lambert is the Godfather in 1833 but, as you, I can’t see any births to the Lamberts.

hi Heywood I cant open that it says access denied
-
So it does! You probably have this anyway. :)
‘Ellenora Carey’ 27th October 1833. I was only making the point that Patrick Lambert was around at that time.
Here is the very dark Parish record

And another try for the transcription

These links work on the preview so hopefully all ok now.

got it thanks Heywood once again thank you for all your help. I will try find a marriage for the later Ellenora, might have more chance with it being mid 1850s onwards :)
-
I found another child called Isabella born August 1835. Can find no marriage entry for either of them which is a bit frustrating.

And the Lamberts again!
-
They sure got around Heywood. Ive been searching for hours for husbands for the later Ellenora and Isabella on the NLI but nothing unless my eyes are just a bit tired. Would you be able to see if you can find anything if you don't mind when you have the time. I will keep searching myself also. Thanks

I have been looking too but just found this possibility
9th August 1858
Thomas Galligan and Ellen Carey (parents John and Catherine)
A witness James Carey
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633489#page/17/mode/1up
Birth of Isabella, their child, I assume 1867
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1867/03466/2272861.pdf
Unfortunately, the baptism is barely legible - very dark at the bottom of the page
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633493#page/30/mode/1up
There are perhaps other children born 1864 -1867
-
Oh there are quite a few ;)
Galligan Baptisms you could search at St Andrews, Dublin
9th September 1861 - Elizabeth Godparent James Carey
2nd October 1863 - Thomas Godparent Catherine Carey
24th February 1865 - Ellen Gabriella - Godparent James Carey
24th February 1866 - Richard
Other Godparents might have some significance
There should be births on Irish genealogy for those after 1864

Heywood thank you so very much. Could Isabella's name be shortened to something else do you think
-
I am not sure but as they named a daughter Isabella, perhaps not.
She could have died in childhood.

Bella or Belle
perhaps Issy
