Title: St Patrick’s Orphanage in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan,
Post by: saskgirl on Wednesday 25 May 22 15:59 BST (UK)
Is there any way to find one one from St Patrick’s Orphanage in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, from 1885? He. Was sent there as a British Home child. He would have been 13 years of age. I know most of his family. Grandchildren. Can you get me started on something. His name is John Nelson. I guess I will have to see if family knows any  more information.

Hello
Not much help but this could be him
SS Circassian 6.4.1885 From Liverpool 26th March 1885 to Halifax Nova Scotia arriving 6th
J Nelson 14 labourer
He is in a group of British Home children ,some descibed as labourers and some as children
The group is from Barnardos.
So they may be able to help. You will need to apply as next of kin and the process takes some time.
There are benefits -lovely photos of the children which really brings things to life.
The Cissarian was on the Allan line and ran from 1872-96.It was heading to Toronto but some of the children may have been sent on.

The other alternatives are a 17year old arrived 1887 on the Brooklyn with 6 other young people to Quebec from Liverpool 29 April  and a14 year old arrived 1883 on Canadian from Glasgow 1.6.1883 to Quebec

You could add his name to the section on British Home Children.  Someone may eventually post information on him.

Do you have an exact birth date ?  I found a guy in Quebec who immigrated 1885.  Birth date was 16 May 1873 ? Might be a long shot but need to look at him more closely to see what there is ?

1901 Pontiac Quebec.

There is an article on this link, which indicates that St Patricks Orphanage opened in 1900 ?
