Title: Joan Johnson (born Littlejohn)
Post by: smudgepants on Sunday 22 May 22 20:04 BST (UK)
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help. I am trying to find out the exact birth place of my mother inlaw Mrs Joan Johnson. She was born Littlejohn on April 27th 1925 but at the age of 15 (1940) she was adopted by her mother Gladys Sumners in 1940. Apparently she was born in the Hansworth (or Hansworth wood) area but don't know exactly where. Is anybody able to help?

Olek.

Hi,
There is a Gladys Littlejohn on the midlands electoral roll living at 31 Porchester Street, Lozells Ward (includes Handsworth I think)in 1930.
Others at that address are Emily, Arthur and William Richard Littlejohn.
In 1925 it was just Arthur and Emily Littlejohn but Gladys may not have been old enouh to vote.
Do those names ring a bell.
Of course if it is her then the address may not have been where Joan was born, could have been in hospital, probably only a birth certificate would tell you..

Can I just ask what 6D 196 means? It sounds like it could possibly be her.

Arthur and Emily were my wife's great grandparents.

If you look up Cyril & Gladys on the 1939 register - her father is living with them

Birmingham is the registration district. 6D is the volume number and 936 is the page number, where you will find her birth registration (Joan)
