Sarah Lennox was born 1855 in Scotland, married Robert H. Brown in 1871in Toronto, Ontario, Canada(don’t have marriage record), then moved to Arnot, Tioga, Pennsylvania where she died June 4, 1889. Looking for names of parents.
Thanks for any help

You know the date of death and where she died , apply for the certificate it should have the parents names if known.
-
Pennsylvania didn't require vital registration until 1906, so there may be no death record. Where did you find the information about her date of death?
-
Look on find a grave for her impressive tombstone
Would the cemetery have records, burial plots and who owns them etc.

Thank you amondg and shelleyesq. I found Sarah Brown's death on findagrave and on online trees. I gather that she married Robert H. Brown in 1871 in Toronto, Ontario but haven't found the actual record. Hoping it would name parents. Haven't found a death certificate. I have been searching findagrave but no parents there. Haven't found a way to contact Sebring Cemetery. I did find the marriage of an Ettie Brown, born Hartsfield, PA, parents Robert and Sarah, who married Laurence B. LaHaye in 1905 in Owen Sound, Ontario, son of Peter LaHaye and Mary Jane Lennox who I believe is Sarah's sister. So Sarah's parents should be Andrew Lennox and Sarah Ewing but trying to prove that.
Robert remarried in 1890 to Richie Huber.

From a google search the cemetery is located on private property now
You could write the address shown was Alexandra Lane, Liberty Pa 16930

I think you may have to invest in a subscription to Scotland's People.
If Sarah was born in Scotland they will have the information you need.

Re the marriage
A Marriage.
Source listed as
Name: Sarah Lennox
Marriage Registration Date: 1871
Marriage Registration Place: Toronto City, Ontario, Canada
Page number: page 341
Event Description: Marriage Registrations; Office of the Registrar General (RG 80-5); Archives of Ontario, Toronto: microfilm group MS932, reel 6, unit 80-5-0-20, volume 19
But it could very well be this one to Edw. Hen BODDY

Looking at the census Andrew Lennox says he was born in Ireland and when daughter Mary married a 2nd time says she is Catholic.
Could Sarah have been born in Ireland circa 1855 and they moved to Scotland before 1858 before going to Canada 1871.

I do have Sarah’s birth in Scotland, from Scotland’s People. Parents Andrew Lennox and Sarah Ewing. I would like some proof that it is indeed Andrew’s daughter that married Robert H. Brown although all indications are that this is the case. There were other Sarah Lennoxes married in Toronto in 1871, such as the one that married Edw. Boddy. Thanks everyone for your excellent suggestions.

Have you contacted Lloydminster Archives to get the obituary for father Andrew Lennox who died 1914 (aged 99 years) to see what information it contains........ ?
https://www.lloydminsterarchives.ca/search-archives/?Source=Any&Subject=andrew+lennox&SearchArchives=SearchArchives
The obit for Mary Jane Lennox LaHaye says she immigrated at the age of 5 years, so 1863.
The family should show on the 1871 Canadian Census (with Sarah) Have you found that census ?
Do the family appear on the 1861 Scotland census ?

Hi Sandra,
I was sent the obit for Andrew Lennox from 1914 but the only relative mentioned is his daughter Mary Jane LaHaye. That makes sense as my records indicate that his wife and children are all deceased including Sarah Jane. By quite the coincidence, his daughter Esther married a Robert Brown in Scotland in 1870 and died there. Not sure why she didn't travel with the rest of the family unless she went back.
As for the 1871 Canadian census, Andrew is in the index but the record can't seem to be found. I do have the 1861 Scotland census and his daughter Sarah is on it. But what I am wanting is proof that it is HIS daughter Sarah that married Robert H. Brown in 1871. I really think it is but....

Well, I just found Andrew on the 1871 Canadian census. Age 48, wife Sarah 52, with Henry 16, Sarah 14, and Mary Jane 11. Andrew's age is almost correct but not the others.

In May 1889, Sarah is taken to the Williamsport Hospital with cerebrospinal meningitis. This appears in theThe Wellsboro Gazette; Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, newspapers.com, 21 May 1889, p 3.. I wonder if that newspaper might publish an obituary.
-
I have been looking for the death of Robert's first wife Wilhelmina Zinck of Germany to narrow down the marriage date to Sarah Lennox. Their youngest daughter Anna was born Mar 3, 1866.
-
Well, I found Sarah's death notice in Wellsboro Gazette of June 20, 1889 for all the good it did. One sentence - At Arnot, PA, June 4, 1889, Mrs. Robert H. Brown, age 34 years.

Andrew and Sarah's son Henry is with them on the 1881 census in Keppel. I don't find him again and he is not mentioned in Andrew's obit in 1914. So thinking he died 1881-1891, probably Ontario. But can't find that as yet.

Andrew and Sarah in 1891 still in Keppel. Their daughter Mary Jane is now married to Peter John LaHaye although I don't have the marriage record.

I have written to the Ontario Archives to see if they can find the marriage of Sarah Lennox and Robert H. Brown.
-
I have had a thought. If it is really Sarah, daughter of Andrew Lennox and Sarah Ewing, who married Robert H. Brown abt 1871, her brother-in-law Peter LaHaye died Aug 24, 1886 in Sarawak, Grey Co., Ontario, Canada. If his obit mentions a brother-in-law Robert Brown in Pennsylvania, that would be proof that it is the same Lennox family.
-
With just a quick look, I didn't see anything that answers your question, but you may find this site interesting. It has a lot of historical information on Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

Thank you very much, Imsfam. I have been looking around the site.

I now have a reply from the Ontario Archives who looked through their marriage records, focusing on the Sarah Lennox who married in Toronto in 1871 but including all their marriages 1869-1878. The Sarah that married in Toronto in 1871 was the one who married Edward Boddy, and they did not find one for Sarah and Robert H. Brown. So either the marriage was not registered, or didn't happen, or it took place elsewhere, such as Tioga Co., Pennsylvania where Robert was from. Would need church records from Ontario and/or Pennsylvania. Getting difficult.
thanks everyone for your help.
