Title: FamilyRelatives.com Privacy Breech -- Help
Post by: Canuk on Saturday 14 May 22 00:22 BST (UK)
To my horror, my LastPass has told me that FamilyRelatives.com has has a security breech and my password and emails have been compromised. It was recommended that I change my password immediately. I have not done business with this company or been to the site since 2010!

I did as I was instructed by LastPass. I went to the site, put in my email and clicked "lost or change password". It said it would send me an email. It did not. I guess this is because it has been such a long time since I had a subscription.

Next step was to try and find some way to contact them and get some human help. I could find no email address anywhere on the site. Does anybody have one? (I am in Canada and phoning is not too practical.) Advice?

Thanks.

Familyrelatives.com does not appear to have been updated in some time - their opening page refers to 2014 & 2015 and the so called "help" as said already doesn't actually link to anything although the domain name is registered until 2023.

If the data breach is only your email address and password and if its not a site you use AND you haven't used this password on other sites ( a definite NO NO ) it may be safer to ignore it in the meantime and beef up the security on your email by changing that password. Keep an eye out for any rogue activities regarding your email.

I did use the password on a few sites, but all but one, aside from Family Relatives, is defunct. Can't do much about that. So I guess all I can do is change the live one and hope for the best.

I have discovered that Family Relatives has, since I stopped using them about a decade ago, has gone from good, to very bad according to several rating sites. They now get about 1 star. Mostly, it is about charging more than the customer contracted for and then being unobtainable, and not refunding money.

Thanks for your help.
