Title: Witnesses?
Post by: BassinghamTerrier on Monday 09 May 22 12:23 BST (UK)
Hi all

I have just downloaded this image from Scotland's People and I'm a little confused.
It's an April 7th 1743 baptism and I can read the first two lines...

"Angus Ross flesher in Inverness & his spouse Margaret Davidson had a child baptized by Mr McKenzie called Donald"

I believe that the third line is witnesses and officials as I think that it says...
"Donald Fraser Alexander ?? Donald Fraser Donald Ross witnesses"

Is this correct? and what in your opinion is the fourth name? That same name appears in the baptism above.

Thanks

The missing name might be "Graves."

I don't think so...
There's a "G" in what looks like "McGlandrich" and it doesn't look much like the same "G".

The missing name looks as if it begins ff. Often the ff names are lower case eg ffowkes etc
