For sometime I have tried on and off searching for info:
My Father-in-law who served as told in WW2 North Africa, Israel and Italy.
No one knows his regiment, army number etc. all we know he was a driver.
Mervyn Evans - DOB 1924 approx - Wales - also survived
Also Uncle who served as told in WW2 Norway.
No one knows his regiment, army number: 14771982 (have searched using the number given with no results) or his involvement.
Thomas Keyes - DOB 1928 approx - England - also survived.
If anyone could find any links please send me any info etc
Thank You

Thomas must have been born before 1928 because he would only have 17 when the war ended so could not have served. His DOB would probably be closer to 1925.

Thanks,
family member sent a photo and yes he was young from the un-dated photo so maybe 1926 also read he was in the Royal Armoured Corps ? from poor quality image.
thanks again

Reference Thomas Keyes, going by his service number it looks like he was in the General Service Corps and joined up at the end of 1943 early 1944.

thanks,
At some point he may have changed units as his photo shows his uniform being in Royal Armoured Corps and kept his number.

There are no records online.
WW2 service records are still with the MOD. You can apply for the records which will cost you £30 each:
https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records
Despite the form asking for it, you do not need to know service numbers but you will need to supply other details - requirements in the above link.
Be aware that there is a long wait which may be even longer due to: https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/mod-warns-army-service-records-delays/
I suggest you apply, then forget about it for a year or so - you’ll get a nice surprise when they eventually turn up. :)

Would it not be an idea to take the info. from their marriages, age, father's name & occ. to help find them in 1939 & their birth records?
