Title: Xinia/Finlay1
Post by: Annie65115 on Friday 08 April 22 19:47 BST (UK)
Regulars on the Leicester board will remember Xinia aka Finlay1. Sadly I have Xin's daughter's permission to post some bad news - namely that Xinia passed away just before Xmas.

I never met Xinia but had lots of contact with her both on the forum and on PMs and I'm sure lots of us can say the same. She was always ready to help, and always cheerful despite her failing health.

I don’t think Xinia’s daughter will mind me quoting her when I say that Xin “spoke so much about her interactions on here, her family history was an enormous part of her life and it gave her so much joy and excitement when she discovered a new 'rellie' or another line to investigate”.

I have missed Xinia since she stopped using RC and I’m sure that all that knew her will also miss her but remember her with a smile  😊

We had the pleasure to meet her and her hubbie at a RootsChatters funeral in Leicester, such a lovely lady.

So sad to hear this news, I was only thinking about Xinia recently wondering what had happened to her.

Oh how very sad.

Xin was a one off.  She and Rabbit were a team and then Rabbit died and now Xin, bless her.

Thanks for letting us know, Annie.

Thanks Annie for letting us know, I raised a thread that she started called "Pain Relief" a couple of times to get a response and I think it was Rosie who had joined me as we were both wondering about her not being around. She was suffering really badly with her back.
So sad and a great loss to the board. She was a great artist and I encouraged her to get her paints out when she was feeling low, and she did and put one up as her Avatar. She had a whacky sense of humour adding her own twist with her photo restorations.
What a loss  :-\
RIP Xin. 🌹

Goodnight and God bless Xin, from your Rootschat friends, RIP xxx

I enjoyed her posts and reactions, I'm sure those who knew her far better willl have really wonderful memories.
It's always sad when we don't hear from someone for a long time, we wonder, but only rarely do we get what some call "closure"
My best wishes to her family.

I was saddened to receive a message from Xin's daughter about her death in November 2020.  Carol (Treetotal) and I did try and make contact with her but it seems we were too late with our messages  :'(

I recall her posting pictures of the artwork she had done on her walls at her house by the sea, and her tales about the trip abroad on her own.  Happy memories  :)

Condolences to Xin's loved ones and friends, very sad.

I had also noticed there had been no activity for ages and with some concern had periodically checked over the past 18 months or so to see if her profile told me she had looked in at all and now it's showing last active 11 April not October 2020. Thankful for the thread and the comments and memories, does as TY says give closure, some folk are just conspicuous by their absence and she has indeed been missed.

The profile is now being used by Xinia's daughter, who is keen to pick up on her family history research :)

Thank you for the explanation Sarah, appreciate that and do think that's lovely it will be in family use of course, was just thinking perhaps you would have changed the status otherwise as you sometimes do when in the know  :)

It's not that I'm any private investigator either, far off it, just a bit naturally curious and remembered activity previously had stayed at 24 October 20 and observed now changed.

Cheers, mare

Normally we do update profiles but as it has now been passed on we are leaving it upto
xinia's daughter to use in any way she wishes. :)
