Title: Jonathan Percy Smith b 1777
Post by: Smutsey on Friday 08 April 22 11:27 BST (UK)
I'm in a dilema. Years ago I found an Elzabeth Smith b 1751 in Elmsett Suffolk as the possible mother to Jonathan Percy Smith and perhaps a Jonathan Pausey or a William Percy as the father. Elizabeth was unmarried. Since then many people have copied this following "hints" etc without double checking with research. The problem now is I DNA match with others through Jonathan Percy Smith and wife Alice Whymark  but nothing through Elizabeth Smith, William Percy, Jonathan Paucey and above. I'm thinking I made a mistake years ago  and others did too by copying my results. Does anyone know more about Jonathan Percy
Smith's real parents?....Smutsey

From baptism 21/5/1777 all you can tell is his mother was an Elizabeth.   No way of knowing where/when she herself was born.

You may just find an affiliation order/bastardy bond at the local archives which will show a father's name if a case has been brought against him by the Overseers of the Poor.

You need to search on a mother's name though - as the child is just referred to as a 'bastard child' (which is awful I know).
