I am new to research in El Salvador so am hoping someone can give me guidance to further information regarding the Pullinger family. What I have so far:-
Ernest Herbert Pullinger married Elena Margarita Avila 1912 San Miguel. His parents are given as Edward John Pullinger & Elizabet Ferman, Elena's as Gregorio Avila Villafane & Margarita Bustamente.
From the UK 1939 registration his occupation is given as metal mining engineer & I believe he was born 9 July 1883 Uitenhage Cape Colony.
Edward & Elena had 3 children Dora Margarita, Robert Cecil & Ernest Arthur.
Also in UK 1939 there is an Elizabeth A Pullinger bn 12 Dec. 1875 an artist painter & living with Ernest & Elena.
What I really would like to find out is Ernest's parents origins & if they were the original Pullinger's in Africa or there was a previous generation.
Any other snippets of information to help put "meat on the bones" would also be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for any help given.

Update:
The James Thomas PULLINGER b abt 1851 was the son of a James PULLINGER b abt 1810 ... i.e. NOT part of the above family (of course there could have been some kind of relationship)
FYI only
James Thomas emigrated with his family as follows:
Ship: Indian Queen, destination: Algoa bay, departure from Liverpool 20 May 1858
PULLINGER, James, 47, Groom, Widower
PULLINGER, Mary A, 20
PULLINGER, Martha, 17
PULLINGER, Louisa, 15
PULLINGER, Augustus, 12
PULLINGER, James, 7
PULLINGER, David, 10

Thank you Treespirit for all your information & helpful links. I too have been overwhelmed the last couple of days trying to piece everything together (what housework!!) Following the initial responses this family has provided a torrent of info thanks to familysearch & it is quite fascination piecing it all together. My main objective now is linking them back to the UK to determine which of my 2 Pullinger branches they all belong to.
All this started because I found in family paperwork the will of Ernest Herbert so of course I'm anxious to claim him.
Best wishes & stay safe

Hi Sonia,
I stumbled across this thread because I am also looking for information about Ernest Herbert Pullinger - in particular I'm trying to connect with any of his descendents who may have known Carlos René Pullinger who died in Sicily in 1943.
Did you ever determine your family's relation to this branch of the Pullingers?
