C J Taylor: Service no. 2068137: Rank Sapper: Record Year 1946: Unit Royal Engineers
I believe that it may be my Uncle Jim. That is Christopher James Taylor born 3rd Oct 1920 in Hendon, Sunderland. His home address would be recorded as Dalton Avenue, Seaham, County Durham. I should be very grateful if someone could check that it is him and give me the details.
Many thanks in advance for any help. Best wishes, Yvonne

Service records for this time are still with the MOD.

Looks like FindMyPast have a CJ Taylor, Enlistment year: 1939.
If its the same record, it's probably the Royal Engineers tracer card, which plot a soldier’s movements within and between regiments.
The amount of information listed varies, but the records include the man’s first name/s, last name and army number. Many men also have their date of enlistment and or date of birth included.
Tracer cards can be hugely complex, and the information on them is usually in abbreviated format.

I was downloading the forms so my cousin could order her father's service records from the MOD when I spotted this record. If this is her father than the service number may speed her application. I understand that it can take a few months.
Thank you for pointing me towards FindmyPast but I only have a subscription for Ancestry.
If the request doesn't comply with your rules please delete it.
Sorry. Best wishes, Yvonne

Hi Yvonne
Applications to the MOD for service records are taking in excess of a year to be processed.
Some local libraries have subscriptions to FindMyPAst, it's worth checking.
