Hi, I'm trying to decipher the birth locations for my Smith family who were gypsies so I'm aware that births were not registered and they often don't appear in the censuses as I have found out already. However I cannot make out where this birth location could be for Esther Smith b. 1847 see attached.
Any help appreciated, from a Google search all I could see was Ellington Lodge .
* I could also ask the same for Rosetta Smith b. Helmington, Essex?
Wife Elizabeth Smith born Baldee (Baldock) Hertfordshire (this is another question in itself though she is nee Lee.

Hi
There is an Allington, near Eastleigh that could be the one for Esther. It could be the enumerator misheard maybe?
There's also a Helmingham in Suffolk which of course borders Essex but I'm less sure on that one ;)

Oh thank you! Yes they did gander into suffolk as travellers so that it possible too!

Could it be Ellington, Hunts?

There is also an Ellingham in Hampshire, near Ringwood on the western edge of the New Forest. I've played cricket there.
