I would appreciate if it is possible for a tidy up on this pic please. I assume it was taken in Belfast, it might be my Gr Granny Sarah McLaughlin/ McNamee.
Any ideas on timeline? She died in 1921.
Thank you
Eileen

Looks like the pic is missing??

Hi
I think it's too late for it to be your great granny. It looks 1930s to me. Maybe even early 1940s. Carol might have a closer date.

Hmmmm, thanks Gadget….I was thinking that might be the timeline because of what she is wearing. I wonder who she is then? My sister found it today in a box of photos and neither of us have seen it before. A mystery!

Is there anything on the back?
-
Nothing at all…
-
1940,s I think.
The elastic in sleeve tops.
Difficult to say because clothes were worn until unwearable.
-
Like Gadget, 30s was my initial thought but it could be 40s, it would be easier if we could have seen the dress length and the shoes.

My try.
As far as dates go, this could be as late as the 1950s or even the early 1960s. I have old photos with relatives' clothes and hair just like that.

Thank you so so much McGroger, you and all the restorers are so talented.
And thank you everyone for your input. I don’t know that I will ever know who she was…but never say never…..

I neglected to say the original photo was sepia……..that would be important!

The restoration is very good.
Now we can see the baby has a flowery frock and the photo creases are gone.
If Granny Mc Laughlin/ Mcnamee died in 1921 then I do not think this photo is of her, sepia or not.
The lady,s dress is not from before the 1920,s.
I saw such dresses in the 40,s
Is that a white belt around the waist?
Do you have a photo of Granny McL. that could be compared with this one?

here's another, cheers, Ian

Thank you very much Ian..that is lovely….

I don’t have a photo of her Lola, there is a scarcity of old photos in our family. I have photos of one of her sons and 3 of her daughters but it couldn’t be her anyway.
I am thinking now that the pic might not be in Belfast, not the area where the McNamees lived anyway. Those homes had a small yard out back and the men would have whitewashed the walls just like in that pic but…..there appears to be a bush there and you wouldn’t have seen anything green in that area!
I have sent the pic to my cousin in Australia to see if she would know anything about it….we have no clue at all who this woman is.
It was my sister who mentioned the sepia but I remember seeing women dressed like that and I was born in 1950.
