Title: Annie Maria Doherty - can’t find death.
Post by: boydi on Monday 21 February 22 04:36 GMT (UK)
Annie Doherty arrived in Brisbane on the Rippingham Grange, 17/10/1910 with sister Sarah Ann Doherty, both free passengers & to be employed as domestics.
Annie born c1881, Sarah c1885, father William Doherty, mother Margaret McLaughlin, born county Donegal, Ireland.
Annie partnered with Alfred Windsor Holloway & had 1st son, Reginald Alfred Holloway 3/4/1917 in Cloncurry Qld.
2nd son, Raymond Francis Holloway born 8/11/1918 in Paddington Sydney.
3rd son, Mark Holloway born approx 1922 supposedly Sydney, info obtained from ww2 war service record. Birth date falsified so he could enlist.
Annie never married Alfred or I haven’t found a marriage. Raymond birth Cert says Annie Doherty.
Have sons birth Cert but not Mark, he married in 1946 in Burwood NSW & cert says mother (Annie) deceased.
Have various electoral roll records 1912 that show movement between Ithaca Qld, then in 1960’s around Coonabarabran nsw. Annie appears to have stayed around Sydney. A few things on Ryerson but nothing substantial. Sarah died 1930 & I think Annie between 1936 & 1946 but ??
Have searched bdm’s for a death or later marriage for Annie Doherty or Holloway but can’t find anything.
Question, what to do next, any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Have you tried the following option when looking online index of NSW deaths at NSW bdm :

Using less is more theory As in
a) search for surname as *  and given name as Ann* and leave blank all the rest of the rectangles, scroll down to last two options....  date from 01/01/1936 to 31/12/1946 and press enter.

b)  If there's too many to cope,  then go back to family name, keep everything else, and try D*  and also H* or the first letter of any possible surnames.

Notice that some results have a number instead of a given name the parent of the deceased.... that will be the likely age of the deceased.

Hope that makes good sense,

Should also mention you can drill down to exact date and then re-consider Ryerson lists.

Ruth posted seeking information on Annie.
A good deal was offered by helpers on that thread, and hopefully you saw it all, Ruth.

It may be helpful to others if the previous thread is read in conjunction with this to prevent duplicating research.
