Hi
I have come across a marriage record for William Dunn (baptised on 14 Feb 1704 at St Mary's, Kingswinford, Staffordshire to parents, William and Margarett Dunn of Kingswinford) and Mary Silvey of Dudley on 11 October 1728 but no details on Family Search. I have looked up Ancestry, FreeReg, St Mary's Kingswinford parish registers, Brierley Hill parish registers and St Giles, Rowley Regis parish registers to no avail. I would be really grateful if someone could look up other sources linking to Staffordshire to see if there are further details on there. Many thanks in advance

FindMyPast have the Bond and Allegation for this marriage. William is aged 24 or thereabouts, and Mary is aged 23 or thereabouts. William is from Kingswinford and Mary from Dudley.

Thanks for looking it up, BumbleB.
I've googled up "Bond and Allegation for marriage" and came up with: -
Marriage bonds and allegations only exist for couples who applied to marry by licence. ... The marriage bond set a financial penalty on the groom and his bondsman (usually a close friend or relative) in the case the allegation should prove to be false. After 1823 marriage bonds were no longer made.
I'm now wondering does the above means this was an application to marry by licence or does it means William Dunn and Mary Silvey actually married on 11 October 1728?
Thanking you in advance.

As you have looked at Kingswinford parish registers and not found the marriage, then I would assume that the marriage took place in Dudley. The date of 11 October 1728 appears on the document. Perhaps a request to Dudley Archives might solve the mystery - at least you can pinpoint the timing. :)
ADDED: Looking at a Bond and Allegation for one of my family members - the date shown is the date of signing, and in this case the marriage took place 2 days later.

I don't think the marriage took place at Dudley as Dudley was in Worcestershire at the time.
Agree I need to do a visit to Dudley Archives and look up those microfiches as soon as I can get the time to do it.
Thanks

Capetown, Many thanks for these links and I have downloaded The non-parochial registers of Dudley. I did google Mary Silvey and came up with members of the Silver and Selvey families.

Thanks and I did see those baptisms on Ancestry. They are the nearest dates to Mary's birth age, which would put her as being the same age as William Dunn instead of being a year different in ages as mentioned on their marriage. I was pronouncing Silvey, Selvey and Silver to myself, wondering if the surname, Silvey was put down in error as I couldn't find anymore on her as Mary Silvey. Will add that as a maybe and look up other links via The old non-parochial registers of Dudley that you've provided in your previous message.
Trouble is their marriage was at a Staffordshire church and Dudley was in Worcestershire at the time. As William Dunn was baptised at St Mary's, Kingswinford so I've done The Registers of the church of St Mary's, Kingswinford and nothing there for marriages linking to Silvey/Selvey/Silver. I'm having a nightmare trying to read the old english style writing on the old parish registers for St. Mary's, Oldswinford going back to 1603 and the dates on the left sides aren't written down in english!

BUT - Kingswinford and Dudley are just about 4-5 miles apart - "spitting distance"!

Thanks for the report of Charles Bragge/Thomas Selvey.
From the dates, it would seem that Mary Silvey was probably baptised Mary Silver at St Thomas' on Dec 1704 to Joseph Silver, a Nailer and Sarah, nee Pearson. I've come up with a marriage for Mary's parents and baptisms for Mary's siblings:-
24 Jul 1701 at St Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England
Joseph Silver, Nailer. Sarah Pearson.
Notes: Married by Banns. File Line No: 169. Source: FreeReg
All baptised at St Thomas, Dudley to parents: Joseph Silver, Nailer and Mary, nee Pearson: -
Joseph Baptised: 19 June 1702
Mary baptised: Dec 1704
John baptised: 16 March 1707
Job baptised: 26 Dec 1709
Samuel baptised: 16 March 1711/12
Sarah baptised: 20 Oct 1714
Daniel baptised: 26 Oct 1718
