Here is a photograph, badly creased of my Great Grandmother Jane Bernardo 1873-1941, can anyone clever remove the creases please?
Thanks Jenny

Here is Alfred Bernardo 1840 -1910, My G G Grandfather, This one is in really poor condition and is not the original photograph just a copy that someone sent me so you might not be able to do anything with it.
But my fingers are crossed. :)

It needs a high resolution scan ..... maybe 600 dpi... to get a fighting chance.

As Andy says, it needs a better scan but even then, the surface is badly damaged.
As an example, I've just brought up the clarity, levels etc,. which shows the damage. No restoration done.

Here's your great grand mothers photo

I've attempted the one of your great grandfather, as others have said the surface is badly damaged

My version of Jane

Hi Trishanne & Gadget,
Thank you both for your improved copies of Jane and Alfred even blurry it is still clearer than the original photo of Alfred. It is amazing to me how you can clarify the originals so well. Thank you so much for your time and skills.
Does anyone have any idea what Jane is holding in the original photo in her hand?
Best wishes

Hi Jenny
I've puzzled about that! She's definitely holding something or it could be something small and there is something unconnected on the furniture.
I've so far come up with
a small clutch bag
a cloak
a musical instrument
It's sunny and reasonably warm up here so I'm off out foe a while but I hope to have a go at the gentleman later today.
Regards
Gadget

I've just done a screen grab of the relevant part of your original and adjusted it. It looks as if it's a carving - could she be just holding the back of a chair :-\
-
you can see it in the original image or in Trishanne's copy it looks like a small whip??

I think that, apart from Pat, we have interpreted the marks on the skirt as surface marks, Could you scan that portion of the image at a very high resolution or maybe look at the surface of the photo to see if the marks are on the surface or in the image.
PS - was she a horsewoman?

The cane looks quite rigid, I wonder if it's a version of this:

Hi All,
Thanks for your thoughts.
To my knowledge she wasn't a horse woman and I think its not scratching on the surface as it is a particular angle and shape.
Not sure why she would be carrying a whip though???
Some things we will never know. ???

Jenny
It was the pale curvy lines that I thought might be scratches of some kind. The item behind and above that she is holding is definitely a cane of some kind or, possibly a parasol.
:-\

It might just have been a prop given to her by the photographer or it is of sentimental value to her and serves as a reminder of someone :-\
Anyway, I had a play.
