Can anyone help with a cause of death please.
Chronic (?) Long standing.
Thanks.

Can you please give the age of the deceased and the date of the certificate?
Pending that information, I wonder if it is a mis-spelling of Laryngitis ? Perhaps it has been underlined, as if to flag up a spelling error? Just a suggestion.

Hi
And if possible if male or female as if male as it might knock out a few guesses for women only disorders. I'm wondering maybe something blood related....
It definitely looks like S/L...g/q/y.....itis. Are there any other 'S' or 'L' on the page to compare?

\\\\\\\\chronic Laryngitis long standing certified

Wow. I would never have considered Laryngitis as being deadly, but now I've looked it up, seems like quite a nasty thing and can lead to all sorts of problems if not treated properly or becomes Chronic. We live and learn. Kit

If you compare the L in long, it doesn't match the first letter but the S in standing looks very much like the first letter in the word after chronic. I believe the first letter is S

I think it’s an S too.
And I think possibly Sanguinitis
So, something to do with the blood. But not sure what!

Sometimes all the words forming the cause of death have an initial capital, so the only definite capital letter here is a 'C' at the start of Chronic and Certified.
I'm inclined to agree with Laryngitis, though the apparent lack of a 'g' is an issue. As has been suggested, is there an upper case 'L' or 'S' anywhere else on the certificate, or any other letters that look similar to this one?

Thanks everyone for replying. James Coltman, 71 yo Male. I was thinking it was an 'S' , maybe sang//itis but now think it's an 'L'.
