Dates
1768 3 Nov
1762 8 Apl
Also spelt as Bothomley

Thank you in advance

Have you tried findagrave.   There are several Bottomley memorials on there at St Andrews

The 3 Nov 1768 Burial was for a George Bottamley age 58, Labourer, abode Sutton
Probably unlikely that a Labourer would have a MI?
(Anc.)

Possible Burial 05 Apr 1742 of MARY, Wife of GEORGE Bottomley occp Labourer
(FreeREG)

As you likely know the other was a Yeoman of High Pole.
A Will may be around?

The 1st may be;
Georgius son of Henrici BOTHOMLAY bapt 08 Apr 1709

Have a look around on FreeREG for bapts.

Trish :)

The Airedale & Wharfedale FHS have transcribed Kildwick MIs, and list one inside the church for George Bottomley who died 8 April 1762 (but of Adin rather than High Pole). It says he was in his 92nd year.

It also names his relict Rebecca (but no age or date of death), their daughter Rebecca (d 1769 in her 16th year) and Thomas (d 1785), implying that all are buried there.

By all means try Findagrave, but I didn't see the Sutton George in the AWFHS transcript, nor in another printed one that I have.

Hi, GAYNORI,

It may seem easy to look around a graveyard at grave headstone or flat stone MI epitaphs and those dates 1760's are probably flat stones MI's relayed in the paths. There are many dangers even in well kept later dated cemeteries as I found above Holmfirth near Huddersfield a few year back, a well kept grave looked safe just needing its grass cutting I thought ? Er ! No? the coffin must have caved in but the soil left a hard crack gap of say 8" wide down the side of the grave and my leg went straight down the crack.

Thus I gave up searching for requested MI's epitaph's and maybe why few requests are answered.

I'll look in the paths only in Kildwick church  graveyard when we get better weather though.

While looking for something else I came across the Farnhill and Kildwick History Group and their collection of mystery photos. Among these were a couple relating to Kildwick:

:o :o :o :o doesn't really begin to convey my feelings at the second one.

Even more disgusting that St Andrews in Kildwick appears to still be in use!

Its must be a decade ago or more ago, I was looking for grave for someone on Rootschat in Christ Church graveyard Liversedge, West Yorkshire UK. The graveyard was slit by a lane (see link)

https://www.google.com/maps/@53.7116911,-1.6935224,3a,75y,176.2h,82.83t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sPsmV672xqjvmWMiXutA3pA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

It was said by locals a car park had been built in the graveyard opposite the main church graveyard on the other side of the lane, where headstones had been moved to be propped against a wall and I supposed the coffin body remains moved (but not sure on that ? as it looked a very DIY job carpark.) Locals said its a was a rockband who practiced in the church cellars who had nowhere to park their vans/cars and others locals said it was the church officials.

                                           Disgusting

I had a look at ST Andrew's church in Kildwick in craven for the 2 George graves
8th April 1762 & 1768 3rd November but the churchyard is in a right old mess (Unsafe) and none of the graves stones which were safely accessible did not have the grave stones you wanted info of MI's or Epitphs or a photo's of.

Sorry. :-\
