Totally confused by finding a possible marriage of my cousin Helen Rose/Rosetta Harrison b 1903 Islington, and up popped FREEBMD with Helen R & Wierzgon but no male match in March Qtr 1950 Leeds 2C/480.
The transcriber has matched the GRO page exactly, although the 'e' is faded, it is an E.
I've used wildcards W* and Wi* with no results. As marriages are not indexed I can't check GRO's material. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions please?
It would be hilarious to find the groom's name really did spell a frantic plea from the reception ::)

The record you found is a birth registration - Wiezgon is supposed to be the mothers maiden name.
Michael.
Edit - emphasis on 'birth'.
-
If Helen was born 1903 - she possibly married before 1950
-
There is no Harrison/Wierzgon marriage in 1950 in Leeds.
There is one in 1948 - Agnes Wierzgon and Leslie Harrison.
-
A tree on Ancestry shows she married Henry D Wilson in 1932 & died 1997
-
She's baptised as Ellen Rosetta - parents match 1911 census

Did she have a sister Ethel Marion 1905 married John Eustace Williams 9 July 1932 she died 30 January 1985 buried 5th February.
Brother Victor George 1910 married Jane W Dodsey 1937 went to Australia 7 August 1954 with a daughter.

Absolutely true, I'm often in touch with Victor & Jane's daughter (Victoria, in Australia since 1954) and working through the family history connections. I had traced Ethel marrying John W. and taken it as far as necessary with her death (cremation) 1985 Islington Crem[DeceasedOnline].
