When and where did Bridget EGAN marry James JOYCE?

What does 1840 refer to?  What happened in 1840?

She was born 1840.  James was born 1837. I believe they were married Feb 2 1865 in Ballyhaunis County Mayo.

Hi Alice

Likely James's surname was JORDAN rather than JOYCE?

There is this marriage, with the details you have, for a Bridget Egan and James Jordan:

This looks to be Bridget and James Jordan in 1901:

www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Bekan/Lissaniska/1589009/

And 1911:

www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Mayo/Bohola/Bohola/738292/

They had a number of children, some ended up heading off to the US. Marriages showing for some of them in Massachusetts, such as this one www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FHLH-T3R or this one www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N46V-54F

You can search for the children's births on https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/

Family Search www.familysearch.org also show indexes for all/some of the births and further details including images for the US as I have linked some above. Simply put the father and mother's names in the search boxes and it should bring up the same entries I am seeing.

It is Bridget Egan married to James  Joyce. They were married in 1865. Not Jordan and not in 1901.  That site you send me to does not open on my phone.

Why do you believe that?

If you know who she is married to/where etc why don't you look at the marriage certificate and get the fathers' names  off it and let us have those.  Witnesses names are often useful as well as they may be relatives of the ones being married.

Then that will make it easier for us to find the mothers' names.

So from the marriage certificate please:
fathers' names and occupations
witnesses names

The link was to the 1901 census.  May pay to get onto a PC/laptop if your phone won't open sites like the National Census as this census and others that we can give you are pretty key to searching in Ireland.

The other links came from

and here

If you cannot open these you will not be able to see what we have found.
