Hello Rootschatters,
I wonder if anyone could help me on my latest quest? Charles Dunwell Alexander Moffat married my great aunt, Christiane Wilson in 1931, sadly she died the following year but I would love to know more about him.
It looks like he died in 1979 and was born in Jamaica in 1900?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Sue :)

What was his fathers name on the 1931 marriage cert?
-
If you have a Worldwide Ancestry sub - there is a birth/baptismal reg for him in Jamaica
There is also a Fold 3 entry - 1922 Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery
1911 entry for him as Charles Dunnell Moffat b Kingston - not with parents
-
Did you check FamilySearch?

Hi Carole,
I don't have the marriage certificate yet, I'm waiting patiently (not!!!) for the postman to deliver it.
Thanks for the family search entry, I hadn't tried there, and I don't have a worldwide subscription so brilliant.

Thankyou amondg,
Great information thanks.
I know Mattishall Church well, I always find it strange when you find these links close to home, it's not the first time either! I'll check out the gravestones when next in the area.
All the best,
Sue :)

Presumably you've seen the newspaper reports of Christiane's death?
-
Hi Shaun,
I have yes, it was all very sad. It says Charles was a businessman/company director and I'd love to know more about that, but I can find no other details.
Oh well, I'll keep searching.
Many Thanks,
Sue :)
