Hello, I am researching Thomas Jones Tailor born c1807
He was in Aberavon in 1841 at Westgate Row and at Water Street in 1851
It looks as if he was born Llannon? but the 1851 Census is illegible.
Can anyone help with his parents, Place of birth etc
Thank you

So born c 1807 Hanthorpe, Carmarthenshire on Anc?,

There's a Hanthorpe in Lincs. never heard of one in Carms

It is hard to read so that is just how it has been transcribed.
Have a look around on FreeREG as there are a couple of possibles for Thomas.
EG 15 Dec 1807 Llanarthney, Carmarthenshire Father DAVID

There is a marriage in Llanllawddog 1828 whish is near Llanfihangel

FreeREG has a possible baot 1806 Llanfihangel-ar-arth if that is what his pob is the Rosie has posted.

Yes I have seen possible baptisms and that marriage. I am inclined to think the marriage is correct. If only I could read that 1851 census. The birth place looks like Llannon to me but I can’t find any connections. I know we should not assume but if he is a tailor in aberavon, maybe his father was a tailor? I can’t one of them in the areas in Carmarthenshire either though.
I know his wife’s maiden name was also Jones. It looks like she died before 1861 too, which is a shame because a census with her in it the birth place may have been clearer. They had a deaf and dumb daughter and by 1861 she was living with her sister so I assume her mother had died by then
Any advice to think outside the box welcome

I am no expert on Wales so hopefully others may be able to read that pob better than I.
I did see that on FreeREG Thomas/Mary Bapt in Aberavon;
Mary Ann 1828
John 1830
Margaret 1833
Elizabeth 1836, poss buried 1839 age 4.
Cant see a Burial on there for John so will search and see if he may be with other Family in 1841.
May be a stretch though as a common name.
