I am looking for help again regarding my 2 x great grandmother Lilias Ainslie born abt 1834 Edinburgh Midlothian and her family. I have her in Service aged 14 at 67 Great King Street Edinburgh, she was a house maid. I am having difficulty locating her parents and siblings I know she had one sister Mary Brodie Ainslie who was born a couple of years after her as they are both on the 1911 census boarding with family. It is driving me mad I have tried scotlands people and not come up with anything for either of the girls. I am at a loss as where to look next, Id be grateful for any help. Many thanks in advance.

Do you have her marriage or death certificate? If in Scotland, they will give her parents' names.

The 1841 census shows her with her family in the Canongate, Edinburgh:
Mary Ainslie, 40
George Ainslie, 16, engineer
Andrew Ainslie, 14, iron founder
Helen Ainslie, 12
Lilias Ainslie, 8
Mary Ainslie, 6
All are born in Midlothian except for Mary senior.

Hi
Her marriage at Manchester 25.9.1854 to James Carmicheal gives her father as George Ainslie blacksmith.
Her parents seem to have married at St Cuthberts 26.5.1821 George Ainslie and Mary Ann Thompson
There is a matching burial for George Ainslee blacksmith 26.1.1838 age 43 Edinburgh
