Title: Shornecliffe Army Camp & Barracks
Post by: Liz_in_Sussex on Thursday 06 January 22 14:43 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I was very excited to find my great uncle at Shornecliffe Army Camp & Barracks in the 1921 census. It is unquestionably him.

I am puzzled though because of the 20 men on the page all but my uncle and one other have their "rank or rating" and "service and branch or arm of service" filled in. Several have -"- type ditto marks but not him so I can't assume he was the same as the line above.

Can anyone suggest why he would be at the camp if he wasn't serving? (He was demobilised in 1919.) To be honest I was expecting to find him in prison (as per family rumour) so this is quite a surprise!

Thank you,

Liz
