Post by: paulsue38 on Wednesday 05 January 22 09:35 GMT (UK)
Good morning, can anyone help decipher this marriage certificate, some parts of which are difficult to read.  The marriage is between my 3rd GG John Sim and Mary Hodgson.
Best wishes
Paul

If I have the right family 1851/1861 they are in Scotland.
1851 John born 1815 Annan, Dumfriesshire

1871 they appear to be in North Shields, Northumberland (under SINN)
John born c  1815 Scotland and Mary c 1815 Broomfield, Cumberland

1861 have a Daug Jesse;
 SIM, JESSE  CAMORAN  mmn   HODGSON
GRO Reference: 1857  J Quarter in WIGTON  Volume 10B  Page 425

Think I've found Marys Parents in 1841.

Could his occp on M/C be Land Surveyor?

Only MARY I can see to John/Mary Hodgson was bapt 1 November 1822 Bromfield
Siblings were;
Jane 1819
John 1820
Margaret 1820
Fanny 1823
Esther 1826

Bit confusing as 2 children bapt 1820 on different days/months
