				Hello

I am looking for this birth which according to the censuses could be anything between 1796 and 1806!

Sophia married a John Whitton/Witton in May 1837 and appears in three censuses with her husband, that is where I get her birth place from.

 Any suggestions?

				Yes I’d found those.

Hanley is not near Burton upon Trent, so I think the birth is unlikely.
-
The date is a bit out, but what about:

Ann Sophia Jackson/Pegg bapt at Marston-on -Dove, 5 April 1812, Residence is Hilton,  Mother is Mary and there is a note that she is" Illegitimate-Father William Pegg".

Perhaps not baptised in a church at birth?

I see that in 1841 there is a Mary Jackson, born 1756 residing with Sophia and John Whitton.

				Interesting…

I had wondered if Sophia was Mary’s illegitimate daughter.

I didn’t want to lead anyone but background info.

 My family are the Jacksons.

I have some letters that refer to an “Uncle John Whitton” but the only connection I could find was that his wife was a Jackson.

Year of birth for Mary roughly fitted with her being my 5 x Great Grandfather’s sister. It is likely that she would live with her daughter!

Hanley is less than 2 miles from Stoke on Trent.

Yes but it is Burton upon Trent which is 30 miles away.

 Thanks anyway.
