Title: Name in 1871 census - help needed
Post by: louisemcm on Tuesday 21 December 21 23:30 GMT (UK)
Hello
I'd be very grateful for help with the surname of Elizabeth aged 86 in the 1871 census at 36 SouthHill Road, Toxteth Park, Liverpool.
Ancestry and FindMyPast have transcribed her surname as Sapper but I can find no other records of a Sapper.
Any ideas? I've managed to work out the other names, which were also incorrect. Elizabeth is living with Helsbys, Dodds, and Seddons.
Many thanks

Also wondered about SAFFER. A mis-spelling of SAPHIER.

Suggest Sapper, with the writer losing some control of the pen in the second p.
