I have a Mary BAMFORD who on her Marriage Certificate in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia in 1868, has her place of birth listed as Ledenberg auf den Kiner poort, ghen, Belgium in 1843. Her father was Sergeant, later Captain, James BAMFORD of the Royal Ordnance Office of the British Army, who seems to be originally from London (?Marylebone). Any tips on searching for information on Mary and her father?

The place was probably Ledeberg in Oost Vlaanderen, wich is near Gent:

On the 1881 census there is a James Bamford, b. 1838 Belgium (British Subject) in Staffordshire - a possible brother to Mary?
If you look at the 1861 census (working off the index, I can't see the full info), it appears in Tipton Staffordshire, there is:
James Bamford, 1809
Elizabeth, 1804 (b. Shropshire)
James, b. 1838 Belgium, son
Mary, b. 1838, d-i-l
Dorothy, 1858
and Herbert, 1860, grandchidren

1861 Census
RG09/2043
Princes End ?
Tipton
Staffordshire
James BAMFORD/Head/57/Puddler/Burton
Elizabeth BAMFORD/Wife/57/Shropshire
James BAMFORD/Son/23/Puddler/Belgium
Mary BAMFORD/Dau-in-Law/23/Rowley, Staffs
Herbert BAMFORD/Grandson/6/Tipton, Staffs
Dorothy BAMFORD/Grandaughter/3/Tipton, Staffs
Mary PHILLIPS/Visitor/9/Bilston/Staffs
Although this is a BAMFORD family with a Belgian connection, James Snr was not born in Marleybone, also it's difficult to imagine an ex Army Captain becoming a Puddler in Civi Street Also the Mary here is a daughter in law, born in 1838. So..... ??
