Title: Where did he come from

Hi All

I have a marriage in July 1919 between James Beckett and Agnes Neilson in Glasgow, Scotland. I have Agnes' details but I cant find anything on James. His father and mother were James Beckett and Rachael Simpson but that's it.  Where do I go from here?  How can I find out where he came from and more information on his parents?

How old was James on the 1919 marriage cert?

What was his fathers occupation

Have a look at the 1901 Scottish census for James Beckit (note spelling) b 1892 Ireland - parents James & Rachel.  Easily found

Look for them in 1911 which hopefully will give you their county of birth

Looks like they married in Ireland as several of the children were born there.  Easiest bet would be to look for their respective deaths on SP which will give their parents names

Thank you

James was 25 when he was married. His father was listed as a labourer. Surname on all was Becket.
I had a look on SP but it gave me nothing using Beckett. I'll try again using various spellings.
