Greetings...
This old photograph was among the effects of Sid Ford, my great grandfather and a pioneer settler of Chilliwack, BC, Canada. I tentatively dated it 1900, based upon clothing styles and horse drawn conveyances. I don't know what the occasion is that rated a marching band, but the theme seems patriotic, so maybe returnees from the Boer War (seems a stretch) or just a Victoria Day fete, Victoria Day being the patriotic event in those years.
If anyone can offer a firmer date than 'circa 1900', I'd appreciate it, but I'd love any improvements in this damaged old image. I eventually plan to forward a copy to the Chilliwack Museum & Archives for their consideration, as they have a similar street scene on their site.
Much thanks,
Brian

Thank you, Cliff.
That looks like a threatening sky - didn't take that in previously.

Uh oh...
The photo I thought I had sent was a rectangle with the marching band in centre. Somehow I lost the building to the right and the boy on the bicycle. Don't know what I did wrong. Disregard this square image until I figure out how I lost part of it to get below 500 kb.
Sorry!

Don't worry, Brian
It's all there. Use the slider bar beneath your photo and you'll see it.
The max width to see it all is 720 pixels but you can (and have) put a larger width size for restoration.

Thanks Gadget - I'd forgotten all about that slide bar!

PatBot many thanks. The colourized version even caught the ruts in the dirt road in fine detail.
