iam researching Fredrick whitehead of Lloyd street south, manchester who died 23/09/1924 the death was caused by a floor collapsing when installing a safe in Martin's bank hightown manchester, his death certificate states that he was a safe dealer ,has anyone got access to a trade directory to see if it gives any more info about him or the firm ,thanks in advance

What was the name of the firm?  If he was just an employee - he would not be in a directory.  Do you have a copy of his inquest report as it may give more info

As Carole said, first find a report of the accident to identify the firm.
"Grace's Guide to British Industrial History" includes Chatwood Safe Company in Bolton among list of safe manufacturers. Also traded as Chatwood & Dawes + other names.

Freebmd has him aged 32 at death - so he was born 1891-2
if he was born Manchester it looks like Frederck Whitehead born Chorlton september qtr 1891 -
basically Diverden - we need as much info from you that you have
did he marry - have kids ??

Newspaper article of his inquest says that he was employed by Withy Grove Stores Ltd as a Motor Driver and Safe Remover.

If it is his birth that was registered in Chorlton Sep Q 1891, this might be his baptism (Free Reg).
Frederick Whitehead. Born 14 Aug 1891. Baptised  4 August 1892. St Benedict, Ardwick. Parents Frederick (warehouseman), and Elizabeth Hannah, of 6 Hayfield Street.

a massive thank you for all your replies you have given me,so far i dont know if he was married the informant on the death certificate is the deputy coroner ,i have not found any inquest report yet not sure if there would be one he died on 23/09/1924 and the death certificate was issued on the 24/09/1924
