iam researching Fredrick whitehead of Lloyd street south, manchester who died 23/09/1924 the death was caused by a floor collapsing when installing a safe in Martin's bank hightown manchester, his death certificate states that he was a safe dealer ,has anyone got access to a trade directory to see if it gives any more info about him or the firm ,thanks in advance
-
What was the name of the firm? If he was just an employee - he would not be in a directory. Do you have a copy of his inquest report as it may give more info
-
As Carole said, first find a report of the accident to identify the firm.
"Grace's Guide to British Industrial History" includes Chatwood Safe Company in Bolton among list of safe manufacturers. Also traded as Chatwood & Dawes + other names.

If it is his birth that was registered in Chorlton Sep Q 1891, this might be his baptism (Free Reg).
