Title: Hartwood Hospital, Shotts
Post by: doolittle72 on Thursday 02 December 21 11:35 GMT (UK)
I have been searching for the burial place of my Great aunt, Marion Scott Jackson who died at Hartwood Asylum in October 1939 aged 72.  Her usual address was given as Hill Road, Stonehouse and despite hunting through Stonehouse Churchyards and Cemeteries I have failed to find her.  At one point I tried to find if she had been buried with her mother in Bathgate but apparently not.  Was there a burial ground attached to Hartwood where she may have been buried but I understood that was only for paupers who had no known kin.  Marion left a husband in Stonehouse, two sons and a daughter.
Can anyone shine a light into this dark world?

Have you contacted South Lanarkshire Council Cemeteries Department who hold the records?

Try LFHS who photographed the headstones a few years ago
