By way of introduction, for my sins, not only am I our family archivist and historian, I also hold the voluntary position of editor of The Stirling Times. This small newsletter goes out to members of the Stirling Aircraft Society, which exists for WW2 veterans and their families who flew or have an association with the Short Stirling bomber. Astonishingly we still have twenty veterans in our little band. Each year I try to source an original pictures to go on the cover of this little rag. Last time I was sent a beautifully colourized picture that was received with great enthusiasm by the group. So this time I would like to try and do the same, but lack the skill to do so.
Would someone be willing to help me please? In return I will email a .pdf version of the magazine to the selected artist, who I will also credit along with RootsChat. The Stirling Times is non-profit and only has a circulation of just over 100. I attach I picture which I hope is suitable.

Sure you will get some brilliant ones for this but to start you off

Well done PatBot. An excellent job

Wow, all of these are all fantastic! However, in the words of Strictly Come Dancing judges.... there can only be one winner!
I have chosen PatBot, purely basing my judgement of the clarity of the aircraft colours and resulting print. I am so impressed by everyone's efforts, especially as you all probably have limited knowledge of the subject matter.
I am sorry that I didn't give much warning, but as this issue has to be mailed out before Christmas, I was somewhat desperate to solve the cover picture problem!
Would members of RootsChat like to have another go with the next issue (about May time)? I could then give more warning!
Meanwhile, will PatBot please let me have an email address so that I can forward her prize later this week.
Thank you one and all!

Hi Guy, Hope you are in a better place after your double bereavement and health issues earlier in the year.
Could you give credit to "Patbot of Rootschat" in your publication, this is usual practice when work carried out by a restorer on here, is to be used for a wider audience. The publicity is good, not only for this board but for Rootchat as a whole ;)

Hi Carole, already done, together with a plug for this group. The Stirling Society attracts lots of people who are researching their families, hence getting your group involved. Am now in touch directly with Pat, and will be sending him a .pdf of the magazine once it has been sent out to our members.
Thanks once again to all at Rootschat. I'm already looking for the Spring edition cover picture! ;D

A couple of tweaks were made to the photo I submitted, for authenticity. The bowser recoloured to RAF blue and the collector rings at the front of the engine nacelle made a dull copper colour.

Well done PatBot. An excellent job
Thank you Japeflakes... Hope the publicity will bring more subscriptions to Rootschat

Here is the complete cover of our Winter edition. There is also a personal endorsement from me for rootschat.com inside the magazine. Hopefully it may drive a few of our members your way, many of whom are researching their family's service histories.
