Title: Frank Grigor help please
Post by: mirrin on Monday 15 November 21 16:26 GMT (UK)
I welcome any information on Frank Grigor Royal Engineers discharged 14th April 1919.  He is listed on the Roll of Indivivuals entitled to the Victory Medal etc. on 11.11.18 or on becoming non effective.
Regtl. No 95424 Rank Spr.  I have been unable to find further information.

I have confirmed That Frank Grigor born 23.7.1903 in Edinburgh, son of Frank Grigor and Eliza Grigor served as a merchant seaman and drowned 7th Jan. 1943. He was on S>S> Benalbanach, second engineer officer. This information is definately correct.

I am wondering if they are the same person even though Frank in WW1 would be very young indeed.

Thank you

WW1 Pension Ledger card on Fold3 indicates Frank Grigor (RE, 95424) was born 1878. Address: 8 West Adam Street, Edinburgh. Disabilities: Nervous disability. Could he be the father?

I guess you know the circumstance's of his demise.

He should have MN records from early 1941 which will tell you all the ships he served on together with dates and ports of engagement and discharge. If so they should be here.

These records are stored alphabetically in blocks of 60 names. You cannot see the document online so you would need to visit Kew or appoint a researcher to look for you.
Anything else concerning his MN career, just shout.

The only document that you may find a photograph on is his  MN ID card which should be contained in Seamans Pouch.
I searched for this initially but it seems to have been lost or destroyed.
